Inter captain Javier Zanetti has denied reports linking with a move back to former club Talleres de Remedios de Escalada at the end of the season.

The 40-year-old started his professional career with the Argentine club, which now plays in the country’s fourth division, and had a stint with them during the 1992-93 season, and some rumours are claiming that the veteran could be looking to leave the Nerazzurri to return there this summer.

Zanetti spoke to Diario Veloz about the circulating reports of his possible return to his home country and stated that they were all false.

“There is no truth in that,” said the former Argentine international.

The defender’s future has been the subject of multiple rumours in recent months, as his current contract with Inter is set to expire in June, and some believe that he may ultimately decide to end his 19 year run with the Italian club and retire from playing rather than seek a renewal.
