Juventus wingback Mauricio Isla has revealed that the Bianconeri are happy to have made it to the Europa League semi-finals after eliminating Olympique Lyonnais 3-1 on aggregate on Thursday.

The Old Lady were victorious with a 2-1 result over Lyon at the Juventus Stadium on Thursday and made it through to the Europa League semi-finals, where they will face Portuguese side Benfica as they continue their journey to earn a spot in the final in Turin.

Isla spoke to the press after Juve’s win over the French side about the match and admitted that he feels the best teams in the competition are the ones that made it through to the semi-finals.

“We are happy to be in the semi-finals,” said the 25-year-old Chilean international, as reported by UEFA’s official website.

“About the game with Lyon, we started well, but soon after their equaliser we weren’t able to play the same way we did in the opening 20 minutes of the match.

“We are happy to have achieved this goal, all thanks to the hard work and strength carried out by the team. Now we must focus on the next Serie A game, then we can think about the semi-finals.

“Lyon are a young team that runs a lot, they caused us some of difficulty. They play excellent football and, as I’ve said before, after a good start from our side, Lyon were able to increase their intensity and run the ball well.

“Sevilla, Valencia and Benfica are all good teams, but I don’t care about which one we might face. I believe that the teams that have made it this far are the best four teams in the tournament.”
