Juventus LogoReigning Italian champions Juventus and their rivals Fiorentina have been fined for the use of offensive chants and banners during the league game involving the sides in March.

The Bianconeri and the Viola met on March 9 at the Juventus Stadium with the home side winning 1-0 after a scintillating goal from Kwadwo Asamoah.

The Giudice Sportivo have decided to punish both the sides with a fine after conducting further investigation in collaboration with the Turin police.

The report has indicated that the Juve fans on the Curva Sud were found guilty of making offensive chants during the first ten minutes of the game which was not found initially because of the atmosphere created by around 40,000 supporters but was later proven using clips from YouTube.

The Viola supporters were also initially not found to have displaying a banner towards the Curva Nord mocking the Heysel disaster but a photographic image from a local newspaper demonstrated the use of the banner.

Juventus have been fined €25,000 for the Anti-Semitic chants while Fiorentina are punished with a €8,000 for use of inappropriate banners.
