Juventus will square off against Benfica in the semi-finals of the Europa League after being drawn with the Portuguese giants during Friday’s draw.

The other semi-final will see Sevilla take on Valencia, ensuring that one Spanish side will make it to the finals of the competition.

The Bianconeri eliminated French side Lyon on Thursday thanks to a 3-1 aggregate scoreline and will now face Benfica for the third time in European competition.

The two clubs first squared off in the 1967/68 European Cup semi-finals where Benfica prevailed 3-0 on aggregate while Juventus prevailed in the UEFA Cup quarter-finals in 1992/93 thanks to a 4-2 aggregate victory.

Juventus will play away from home for the first leg, along with Valencia, with both opening legs taking place on Thursday April 24. The return leg will take place one week later on Thursday May 1.

The draw also determined that the winner of the Sevilla-Valencia tie will be nominated as the home team for the final, meaning the Bianconeri would curiously be the away side for the final should they qualify for it despite the match taking place at the Juventus Stadium.
