Inter midfielder Mateo Kovacic insists he is happy at Inter and that his future remains with the Beneamata despite his lack of playing time in recent times.

Nagging injuries kept him out of the lineup at the start of this season and when healthy he has been used sparingly by current Inter coach Walter Mazzari leaving many t0 believe the Croatian could be on his way out, something that Kovacic has swiftly denied.

“The papers have to write something,” he said during an interview with Croatian news agency Jutarnji. “They are always speculating about something.”

“Its not something I think about.  I have a contract here until 2017 and my future is with Inter and I am very happy to play my part.

“All my thoughts are directed at giving my contribution to the club and helping them return to a high level.

“I have a great rapport [with Inter].  I often speak with director Piero Ausilio and I feel supported.  I am young and still have a lot of time to learn.  Becoming an Inter player has changed my life and was a turning point in my career.

“I am a fortunate kid, how can I complain when there are people in the world who have real, serious problems.”

However, when asked where he would like to go if things didn’t work out in Italy, Kovacic left his options open.

“Spain, England and Germany are the countries where they play the best football, but I am happy in Italy and I am sure it will only get better.”
