Maxime Gonalons LyonThe agent of Lyon midfielder Maxime Gonalons has revealed that there is an 80 percent chance the French midfielder will join Napoli in the summer transfer window. Frederic Guerra.

The Partenopei pursued the French international in January, with owner Aurelio De Laurentiis stating the two clubs had agreed on a fee in the range of €17 million, only for Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas to later back out of the deal.

Speaking to Radio Crc earlier this week, Frederic Guerra revealed there is a very good chance his client will finally join Napoli in the summer and that Aulas scuppered the deal in January because he did not want to sell the club’s captain midway through the season.

“The percentages of seeing Gonalons in Naples? 80 percent, the probability is strong. In a World Cup year the market begins later and later because all observers will be in Brazil.

“Benitez has liked Gonalons for some time, since he was at Liverpool. I’ve talked a lot to the player about Naples, he likes the city.

“When you change [clubs] it is the goal of the club that counts, and Gonalons does not want to go to a club that will struggle to win. If Napoli are built to win the Scudetto, Gonalons will accept. The priority is to play with Napoli.”

Guerra also discussed another client, midfielder Clement Grenier, as several clubs are reportedly interested his their services.

“Grenier? He is liked by a lot of the Italian league. He always looks at the way Napoli play and told me that this would be the ideal city for him.

“Tactically he is a playmaker. He has a little Platini and a bit of Maradona. He is also similar to Pirlo because he can play on the right wing and lower.”
