Inter coach Walter Mazzarri was not bothered by young striker Mauro Icardi’s goal celebration but did reveal he was not impressed with his team’s performance against Sampdoria.

The Nerazzurri defeated the Blucerchiati 4-0 and Mazzarri was pleased that Icardi did well against a hostile crowd but believes that overall the team could have been better.

“Icardi could have avoided going under the curva but unfortunately he did what he felt and he had this half-reaction,” Mazzarri told SportMediaset.

“I had him prepared, I told him to not care and just think about the game. It is better not to be a moralist in these cases because it is not convenient to anyone.

“He had the entire stadium against him today and he played as a great striker.

“It would have been better if we had scored only one goal today and distributed the others better because like this we would have made more points.

“The performance was not good like another occasions when maybe we had drawn or lost.

“I didn’t like the first half a lot because we didn’t close down the spaces that Sampdoria were conceding here.

“In the second half we were better and I liked this squad more.”
