AC Milan captain Riccardo Montolivo is adamant that his team must continue down the current path they’re on.

The Rossoneri have managed to remain undefeated in their past three games after struggling for most of the season and the 29-year-old is confident in the club’s chances of earning a Europa League spot if they can continue securing positive results for the remainder of the season.

Montolivo, who has been on the bench with a minor injury for the past few weeks, recently spoke at a press conference during a publicity event about the Diavolo’s current form and commented on the possibility of certain players leaving Milan this summer, while also praising team-mate Mario Balotelli.

“I’m doing better, it took some time to get over the pain of my injury, but I’m planning on returning to the group this week,” said the Italian international.

“We have secured some points in some very complicated games as of late, including our matches with Lazio in Rome and Fiorentina in Florence, and now we have to continue like this because we’re on the right track.

“Europe? We’re aiming to play in Europe next season. We need to give continuity to our latest results.

“The club’s goal is clear and we will try our hardest in these last seven games.

“The market? We hate to lose important players, even though I know that everyone wants to stay, but for now we must only think of our goal.

“Balotelli? He has great qualities and he’s an exceptional player. He hasn’t always succeeded on the pitch, but when he does, he’s able to make the jump in quality for both Milan and the Italian national team.”
