MestoNapoli fullback Giandomenico Mesto is set to sign a contract extension that will keep the 31-year old defender with the Partenopei for another season

The longtime Genoa and Reggina man was signed by the Partenopei in August 2012 for €1.5 million and has not played since damaging anterior cruciate ligaments on November 2.

Mesto recently resumed training and even found a place on coach Rafa Benitez’s bench for the last two matches though he has yet to return to action.

Radio Kiss Kiss report Mesto’s agent, Moreno Roggi, will travel to Napoli’s training ground at Castel Volturno to finalize terms of the agreement which are reported to extend Mesto’s contract by another year at his current salary.

The defender had played in eight Serie A matches before suffering the injury in the win against Catania, even taking playing time away from Italian national team defender Christian Maggio.

The Azzurri are set to welcome back a trio of defenders for the last portion of the campaign as Juan Zuniga and Maggio are set to join Mesto after battling their own injuries.
