Diego Contento - Bayern MunichNapoli have sent representatives to Germany to look at Bayern Munich’s Diego Contento.

The Partonopei are hoping Bayern’s Naples-born left back will shore up its defensive deficiencies, which have been an issue all season.

According to German newspaper Bild, Napoli are scouting several players, but some such as Borussia Dortmund winger Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, may prove difficult to pry away from their current clubs. Instead, the newspaper suggests, Contento is a more realistic option.

Bayern coach Pep Guardiola has preferred David Alaba in the left back role, and Contento has collected less that 500 minutes of Bundesliga action this season, thus, as a result, is looking to leave the club in the summer.

While Napoli have an interest in the player, the club will have to stave off approaches from several others, including German club Werder Bremen.

Contento has made nine Bundesliga appearances this year, and 12 in all competitions.
