Marek Hamsik Aurelio De Laurentiis NapoliNapoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis has denied rumours claiming that Marek Hamsik could be leaving the club by declaring him a Neapolitan.

The 26-year-old Partenopei captain hasn’t been in top form as of late and has been linked with possible moves to both Chelsea and Manchester United in recent months, though the Serie A side’s president insists that he has no intention of selling the midfielder.

De Laurentiis spoke to Radio Kiss Kiss on Saturday ahead of Napoli’s away match with Udinese, which ended in a 1-1 draw, about Hamsik’s transfer situation, while also commenting on what he expects of coach Rafa Benitez.

“Udinese always produces good players, we’re without [Gonzalo] Higuain, but Duvan Zapata has demonstrated his value,” said the 64-year-old.

“As for Benitez, I haven’t asked him to win everything right away, but to build a team that can win over time.

“The journalists always put Hamsik on the market. He identifies with the city of Naples and has become Neapolitan.”
