Aurelio De Laurentiis NapoliNapoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis has continued his war of words with Juventus after his side’s victory against the Bianconeri on Sunday evening.

The Partenopei inflicted only the second defeat of the season on Antonio Conte’s side, and De Laurentiis followed up by remarking how they had managed to do so on a fraction of the budget Juventus enjoy.

He spoke at Napoli’s training camp in Dimaro, demonstrating how important he found the result.

“The challenge with Juventus is something special,” he admitted, “and something that goes way beyond the championship. It is the eternal challenge.”

“Sunday’s game was not about catching Juve,” De Laurentiis continued, “but we are very interested in second place.”

The film magnate also hit out at the suggestion that Antonio Conte had used only a fraction of Juventus’ €300 million turnover.

“Conte says he spent only €20m, then I want to know what they did with the turnover of €300 million,” he railed.

He also admitted he was happy to be torn between the two sides of his life.

“I am a twin,” he conceded. “Two souls are living in me; cinema and football, of which I have not yet tired, and I have a responsibility to the fans.”

Despite their victory, Napoli sit third in Serie A, some 17 points behind Juventus.
