Maxime Gonalons LyonOlympique Lyonnais owner Jean-Michel Aulas has revealed that Napoli target Maxime Gonalons will be allowed to leave the French club this summer if the right offer arrives.

The 25-year-old has been heavily linked to the Partenopei all season and was originally expected to arrive in Naples during the January transfer window, but the Lyon chief admits that he asked the midfielder to remain with the Ligue 1 side at least until the end of the current campaign.

Aulas spoke to L’Equipe about the Lyon captain’s transfer situation and insisted that he gave Gonalons his word to let him leave the club this summer if he wants to, with Napoli looking like his most probable destination.

“In life you have to respect certain commitments,” said the French businessman.

“He could have left in January, but I asked him to stay and he pulled out of the transfer for the team. It was a good thing for everyone.

“He has my word that I’ll let him make his departure at the end of the season, in case a good offer arrives, but this doesn’t mean that he will leave.”
