AC Milan defender Matias Silvestre is set to return Inter this summer after a disappointing spell with the Rossoneri, but could be set for a switch to Europa League chasing Parma.

It appears Parma will look to replace the outgoing Gabriel Paletta with Silvestre and will rely upon their good relationship with Inter to help them persuade the Nerazzurri to sell the Argentinean defender.

Last summer saw the two clubs exchange players as Ishak Belfodil joined Inter for €5 million and Antonio Cassano went the other way. These were just the latest in a long list of mutual dealings between the clubs which have benefited both greatly.

Silvestre has struggled to break into the Milan side this season and has only featured in four league games since joining on loan from their city rivals last summer.

Parma have a long held interest in Silvestre, having tried to sign him before he joined the Rossoneri on loan and will be delighted if they finally get their man.

A fresh challenge could be what the Argentine needs where he would hope to regain the form displayed at Palermo which saw him acclaimed as one of Serie A’s finest defenders.
