New Catania boss Maurizio Pellegrino is adamant that his team must do their best to secure positive results in these final games of the season to save themselves from relegation.

The 48-year-old took over as head coach of the Elefanti after Rolando Maran was sacked for the second time this season following the club’s 2-1 defeat to Torino on Sunday, and he insists that he’s ready to do whatever he can to help the Sicilian team end the campaign on a good note.

Pellegrino, who signed a contract that will last until June, spoke to Sky Sport Italia during his press conference and spoke about his mission to help Catania succeed and admitted that he’s proud to lead the struggling team.

“There are six matches left until the end of the season,” said the tactician, who previously coached the Rossazzurri from 2002-03.

“It’s too early to give up and we have to give everything until the end of the campaign.

“We must close the season in the best way, and the club has asked me to do just that.

“On Sunday we’re going to the San Siro to challenge AC Milan and as the coach of Catania that is a source of pride for me.”
