Table toppers and division winners of Group A Torino drew 1-1 at home to Parma last weekend, earning the draw thanks to Alessandro Comentale’s first goal of the campaign.

However, second placed Juventus failed to take advantage of this slight slip as they went to Sampdoria and were beaten 1-0, Giovanni Fenati getting the only goal of the game.

That result means the incredible form of Novara has been rewarded as they move into third, level on points with Juventus, after they beat Carpi 2-0 and had Nicolas Schiavi to thank once again after he got on the score sheet.

Genoa battled back from going down 1-0 early at Siena to respond and leave with an excellent 4-2 win while Sassuolo saw off Spezia comfortably 2-0, Ettore Gliozzi opening the scoring.

Bologna beat Modena 2-0 away from home and Empoli had to settle for a point from their meeting with Cesena.

Atalanta’s hopes of topping the Group B table look to be all but ended after they slid to a shock 2-1 loss at home to Varese thanks to Cristian Galliani’s 90th minute winner.

Although Chievo could not quite take complete advantage, they still moved five points clear by three times battling back from a goal down against Hellas Verona in the Derby della Scala to take a 3-3 draw.

A young and inexperienced Udinese side were undeterred by this in their meeting with AC Milan, ending up 2-0 victors in the north east while Inter and Ternana drew 1-1.

Pescara were beaten 4-3 at home by Brescia in a seven goal thriller with Nicolo Ragnoli and Baba Ndaw Seck getting a goal apiece.

Padova beat a Cagliari side who played 79 minutes of the game with 10 men by a single goal and Cittadella and Virtus Lanciano drew 1-1.

In the closest chase for top spot in any of the Group’s by maintaining their one point lead from Fiorentina with a 2-1 win over Reggina with both goals coming from the boot of 20-year-old Josip Elez in a game that saw both teams end the game with 10 men.

The Viola did their bit by beating Bari 2-1 away from home, Andy Bungu getting their winner as he has did so often this season.

Napoli were thrashed 4-0 on home turf by a rampant Roma with first team hopefuls Federico Ricci (twice) and Tin Jedvaj scoring.

Iuculano’s goal was enough for Trapani to shock Catania in Sicily but there were no such troubles for Palermo at home who swept Livorno aside 3-1, Davide Petermann getting two of those goals.

Juve Stabia won 4-2 away at Crotone and Avellino shocked Latina to win only their second game of the season with a fine 3-0 win on the road.
