Edy Reja - LazioLazio coach Edy Reja believes that the Biancocelesti deserved at least a draw from their game at Napoli on Sunday afternoon.

The Biancocelesti lost 4-2 at the Stadio San Paolo thanks to a hat-trick from Napoli striker Gonzalo Higuain.

The Lazio coach spoke to SportMediaset after the game and stated that he feels his side wer good enough to have taken a point from the match.

“We faced the challenge well against Napoli, putting them in trouble and we perhaps deserved to be at3-3,” he stated.

The turning point of the game came just after half-time when Lazio defender Lorik Cana conceded a penalty and was sent-off for a second bookable offence, and Reja insists the decision was harsh.

“We gave a good performance even if the penalty and sending-off incident was overly punished.

“I regret that we gave away two stupid goals because of carelessness. My players told me that Higuain on the occasion of the one-two [that led to the penalty] was probably offside.

“The boys are a little disappointed because we deserved more.”

Lazio have now slipped to 8th in Serie A, three points off the Europa League places, but the coach  believes that they are still in with a shout of qualifying for Europe next season.

“We are still in the race and we have several direct confrontations [against Europa League rivals] in front of us.

“But we cannot make any more mistakes. The squad is adequate and is answering the critics.”
