Sampdoria defender Andrea Costa had made an apology on social media after he made an outburst that was aimed at Inter striker Mauro Icardi.
The 28-year-old centre-back was on the bench during the latest loss against the Nerazzurri but he started shouting at former Samp teammate Icardi after the young forward made a gesture towards the Sampdoria fans.
“I apologise to everyone for that ugly scene that I am seeing now on some video,” Costa said on his Twitter account.
“In that moment the cameras were the last thing on my mind and I believe however that there are things far more serious than those words.
“In every way again I apologise to everyone.”
Sampdoria lost 4-0 at home to Inter on Sunday and Icardi scored two goals in that match.
His celebration for the first goal involved him putting a hand towards his ear while the Sampdoria fans were booing him.
