Sassuolo striker Simone Zaza has revealed that he wants to stay with his current club next season despite rumours linking him with a move to Juventus this summer.

The 22-year-old is currently co-owned by the Neroverdi and the Bianconeri and has scored seven goals in his 28 Serie A appearances this season thus far, and he admits that his main objective is to help his team keep a place in Italy’s top tier and remain with them for at least one more campaign.

Zaza spoke to Sky Sport Italia about Sassuolo’s 1-1 draw with Cagliari on Saturday, which he scored in, and commented on his future with the struggling club.

“Unfortunately, some things went wrong today,” said the Italian. “We ended up conceding a goal at the start of the second half.

“Luckily, however, the season is not over for us yet. If we win our match next Saturday, then our future is still completely open, so we must forget about this match and immediately think of our next game against Chievo.

“I scored in the first half and even then we were having some trouble. I wasn’t playing very well, then I found the goal.

“[Juventus sporting director Fabio] Paratici was in the stands? I didn’t know. I’m happy, but I know that he follows a lot of the players he has around the league.

“My future? My intention is to attain salvation and to spend another season here. I’m fine with my coach and my team-mates and I’d love to stay here for at least another season.”
