Serie B held an assembly on April 15 with club representatives, president Andrea Abodi and director general Paolo Bedin present in Milan to discuss restructuring the league with reforms expected in the near future.

The meeting laid the groundwork for another assembly that is to be held on May 15 where the initial ideas proposed in April are to be built upon and decided on formally.

“That will be an assembly dedicated to reforms various statutory changes designed to harmonise the league’s rules,” said director general Bedin to TuttoB.com

“Changes are expected to our code of self-regulation, especially in regard to the redistribution of resources, introducing a salary cap, quotas and ensuring playing time for young players.”

“There will be many irons in fire, this month will serve to the clubs to make observations and suggestions to the league.”

Bedin has revealed that the proposed changes to the redistribution of funds is to be largely similar to the system of the past three years and will be divided into three parts.

One part of the wealth will be divided equally between clubs.

The further criteria will be based on income from supporters and the playing time clubs give to young players.

“We have noticed the extraordinary results of the Italy Under-21 side and this year now our sporting mission will become stronger as a result of this means of distribution,” said Bedin.

“Our self-reflection continues, for three years we have expressed our desire to establish a dialogue between us Serie A, Lega Pro and the Federazione Italiana Giuoco Calcio.

“We are at a position to predict possible reforms in the near future.”
