Lazio sporting director Igli Tare has insisted that the primary objective for the Aquile during the remainder of the season is European qualification and believes that their three matches at the Stadio Olimpico could make the difference.

Also, while the injured Miroslav Klose may sit out some key games for the Biancocelesti, the former striker was confident that their promising young attacking talent will fill the void left by the German should he not renew his contract with the capital club.

“The Europa League is possible and we believe it because we play three times at home in our last five games,” Tare told Sky Sport Italia.

“It is a goal that we want to achieve at all costs.

“There is still a lot that needs doing [for Klose’s contract extension], but at the moment he is injured. We’re talking with him and I think we can find an agreement for the renewal.

“For next year though we also have an agreement with [Filip] Djordjevic and if Klose were not to remain with us we will move forward because we also have as important young people such as Keita, [Mamadou] Tounkara and [Brayan] Perea, next year will be in the first team.

“Keita is a talented footballer and shown it. He can grow even more, but must work with humility to not make mistakes.”

With Italian international Antonio Candreva sure to receive some admiring glances from clubs within Serie A and Europe Tare admitted that they would soon start negotiations on a permanent deal for the attacker.

“Candreva has a long contract with us,” stated Tare. “At the end of the season we will try to reach an agreement with Udinese to bring him to Lazio permanently.

“He is a staple of this team and will be in the future.”
