Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly not considering former AC Milan boss Massimiliano Allegri to be the club’s next head coach.

Reports in the Italian media this week tipped Allegri as the frontrunner to take over at the North London club next season.

However, ESPN reports that sources at Spurs have indicated Allegri is not under consideration to take over for interim coach Tim Sherwood, who is not expected back next season. Sherwood took over in December after Spurs sacked Andres Villas-Boas.

Allegri won the Scudetto with Milan in his first season in charge, 2010-11. However, the club’s fortunes dipped since then, with a  number of high profile players being sold in the subsequent years. Allegri was relieved of his duties in January with the club languishing in mid-table.

The current bookmaker’s favorite to take over at Spurs is current Netherlands coach Louis Van Gaal, with Southampton boss Mauricio Pochettino also viewed as a prime candidate.
