Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu has revealed that Alexis Sanchez is not for sale and won’t be joining Juventus despite recent rumours claiming otherwise.

The 25-year-old, who scored 19 goals in his 34 league appearances for Barca during the 2013-14 campaign, has been linked with a possible move to the Italian giants with some reports even claiming that the Bianconeri have already made an offer in hopes of securing his services this summer, though the Spanish club’s president denies that they have any knowledge of this.

Bartomeu spoke to Chilean newspaper El Mercurio about the Sanchez’s future and confirmed that the forward is only focused on doing well for Chile during the World Cup for now and is expected to honour his current contract with Barcelona, which expires in June 2016.

“Alexis is now preparing for the World Cup and he wants to devote his time only to this competition,” said the Blaugrana president.

“Everyone hopes that he has an excellent World Cup and, although I’m a fan of Spain, I have some sympathy for Chile.

“Sanchez, however, is not on the market. He has a contract with us and this is the only thing that matters.

“We know nothing of Juventus and we haven’t received any offers from them. You would have to ask his agent [Fernando] Felicevich.

“Many things are read nowadays and it’s better to not comment on all of these rumours.  Alexis is in our plans for next season and we need him because he is a quality player.

“[Arturo] Vidal? I don’t know anything regarding him.”
