Chievo coach Eugenio Corini was left feeling satisfied with his team’s performance against Cagliari.

The Flying Donkeys, who have endured a difficult domestic campaign this season, desperately needed a win to pull away from 18th placed Bologna, who was just one point behind them in the table.

Defender Dario Dainelli’s second half header was enough to give his squad all three points and ensure safety in Italian football’s top flight for another season.

“The team has been absolutely spectacular because we were able to win against a very difficult opponent,” he stated to Sky Sport shortly after the match.

“This is truly a spectacular day for us.”

Chievo now rest four points ahead of Bologna and regardless of the result against Inter next Sunday, will be plying their trade in Serie A during the 2014-2015 season.
