Diego Della ValleFollowing his side’s loss in the Coppa Italia final, Fiorentina owner Diego Della Valle expressed disappointment at the result.

Della Valle bought the Viola in 2002 and this was the first Coppa Italia the side had reached under his tenure.

“Tonight [Saturday] there is bitterness, we played a good game, it was a great final and I’m sure that next year we will win,” he told Firenzeviola.it.

Della Valle also mentioned the events prior to the match stating, in which four people were shot with one Napoli fan in critical condition.

“The evening was ugly and could have ended badly, I think common sense has prevailed.

“When there are 60,000 people with [their] heart in hand come to see a game you should play is clear.

“We have to explain to everyone that the sport is a good thing, that football is fun, you need to educate young people [about that].”
