AC Milan vice president Adriano Galliani has picked the club’s new sporting director and has resisted the temptation to recruit from outside the club.

Galliani is looking to replace Ariedo Braida, who resigned on December 31 and has decided to promote from within in the club.

According to Sky Sports Italia the new sporting director will be Rocco Maiorino who has spent years working in the Milan scouting department and has been head scout since January.

He was also assistant to the departed Braida for a time, personally chosen by Galliani, and Maiorino already knows the environment and his in-depth knowledge of the youth players brings the future to the present as Milan look to start a rebuilding process.

Sky Sports Italia also reveal that Maiorino has already received confirmation of his new position by Galliani.

The Rossoneri finished a disappointing eighth this season missing out on a Europa League place by two points.
