Fiorentina striker Mario Gomez has revealed that he’s happy in Florence and is looking forward to doing well for the club next season.

The 28-year-old’s debut season with the Viola wasn’t the best, as several injuries have limited him to only scoring three goals in his nine Serie A appearances this campaign, but he insists that he has no plans of leaving the Italian side any time soon.

Gomez spoke to Eurosport about his willingness to continue with Fiorentina despite rumours linking him with a possible move away from the club this summer and already expressed his excitement for the 2014-15 season.

“Even at Bayern Munich there were often rumours about my possible transfer and in the end I stayed there for four years,” said the German international, who joined the Gigliati from Bayern for a reported fee of around €20 million last summer.

“It’s always the player who has the last word on his future and I’d like to stay here in Florence.

“I’m very happy and I want to play in this shirt next season in order to give my contribution and to repay this club, as they have done everything to buy me.

“I cannot wait to start the new season.”
