French defender Kalidou Koulibaly is on the verge of joining Napoli after officially passing a medical at Castel Volturno today.
The 22-year old has starred for Genk in the Belgian Pro League over the past two seasons and has been linked with a move abroad for weeks now.
Napoli’s official announcement on their website indicates a deal has been agreed with Genk, as well as personal terms with Koulibaly.
Koulibaly is a central defender, and while still young, the Azzurri will be hoping he will prove to be a piece of shrewd business as they look to embark on a Champions League run next season.
Rafa Benitez’s men finished third in the Serie A and won the Coppa Italia in the Spaniard’s first season with the club.
