Lazio are evaluating the future of current head coach Edoardo Reja and if he is fired their primary target is Sampdoria’s Sinisa Mihajlovic.

Reja only recently rejoined the capital side in January following the sacking of Vladomir Petkovic but with the side falling well short of European qualification and currently sitting in 10th position in Serie A, Claudio Lotito is considering his coaching options.

According to Il Tempo, Mihajlovic, a former Lazio player who has yet to agree a new deal with Sampdoria, is the leading candidate to take the reins with both Basel head coach Murat Yakin and former Swansea manager Michael Laudrup also being among the front runners if Lazio decide to relieve Reja of his duties, who is currently contracted until the end of next season.

The club are facing a potentially difficult summer as Lazio have failed to qualify for European football for the first time in three seasons and are prepared to overhaul the squad in order to cut the wage bill of the squad as they look to take the club in a new direction with a more youthful squad.
