Both Manchester United and Manchester City are reportedly interested in signing Roma defender Mehdi Benatia this summer.

The 27-year-old has been very impressive for the Giallorossi this season and has attracted the attention of many outside clubs, especially in England, ahead of the summer transfer window as both Manchester sides, along with Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur, are seemingly hopeful in securing his services for next season.

According to The Sun, the Red Devils and the Citizens are the main teams willing to battle it out for the Moroccan international at the end of the campaign, as the two clubs are keen on bolstering their defences with a player of his calibre, though it’s unknown if the Lupi would be willing to let him go yet.

Benatia joined the capital city club from Udinese before the start of the current season in a five-year deal worth around €13.5 million, which also included Nico Lopez and Valerio Verre being sent to the Udine club in co-ownership agreements.

The former Zebrette man has scored five goals in his 30 Serie A appearances for Roma this season thus far.
