Montella - FiorentinaAfter his side’s Coppa Italia final defeat to Napoli, Fiorentina head coach Vincenzo Montella has spoken of his pride for his team and praised the travelling Viola fans.

Fiorentina lost 3-1 at the Stadio Olimpico after starting the game incredibly poorly after the game was delayed for nearly 45 minutes due to the earlier violence in the streets of Rome but looked more assured in the second half.

“We were unrecognisable at the start of the game, then the game was balanced against Napoli. I am proud of my guys for what they did and for the participation of the fans,” Montella told Rai Sport.

“Our fans were magnificent, the boys have brought a great enthusiasm to the city [of Rome].

“The fans have been understanding of the plans of the club. I hope this final is just the beginning with the likes of [Giuseppe] Rossi, [Mario] Gomez and other important players coming back.”
