Rafael Benitez will be coach of Napoli for at least another season after it is understood that the Partenopi have exercised the option to extend the Spaniard’s contract for another season.
The 54-year-old has enjoyed a successful first campaign at the Azzurri where he has guided the club to a Coppa Italia victory and Champions League qualification after a third place finish in Serie A.
However, Tuttonapoli reports that there has been no negotiations to extend Benitez’s contract further than the two-year deal which was agreed in May 2013.
Negotiations may begin in the coming months, although rumors linking the former Liverpool coach with a return to the Premier League are circulating, with many tipping Benitez with the vacant role at Tottenham Hotspur.
The Spaniard has also coached Inter, Chelsea and Valencia in a successful career in which he has won numerous honors including the Champions League in 2005 and the Europa League in 2013 and 2004.
