Sampdoria are interested in taking Arsenal goalkeeper Emiliano Viviano on board for next season.

The 28 year old spent the season on loan at the Gunners from recently promoted side Palermo, but the English giants are highly unlikely to take up the option to purchase him permanently.

The Italian spent the whole season behind shot stoppers Wojciech Szcz?sny and Lukasz Fabianski in the pecking order, so it looks like the goalkeeper will be sent back to the Serie B champions.

Sky Sport Italia reports that Sampdoria coach Sinisa Mihajlovic is a fan of Viviano having worked with him at Bologna a few years ago, and sees him as a solid investment.

There are a number of clubs in England who still maintain a keen interest in the Italian despite his unsuccessful season in North London, and Sampdoria will have to compete with them.

Viviano failed to make a Premier League appearance this term.
