Serie A 2013/14: Round 36 Preview – AC Milan take on Inter, with Juventus on the brink of Scudetto

Serie A LogoWith a Milan derby, title and relegation matters to be decide, round 36 of the Serie A season is set to be decisive and full of action.

There are no games on Saturday due to the Coppa Italia final between Napoli and Fiorentina but there are five matches on Sunday afternoon.

Catania host Roma knowing that defeat could end their stay in Serie A.

The Sicilian side could still avoid the drop and with games against Bologna and Atalanta after this weekend, they will hope to be still in the mix after their game against Roma in round 36.

The Giallorossi meanwhile have to beat Catania to keep up their faint chances of securing the Serie A title.

Chievo entertain Torino in Verona with both teams having plenty to play for.

The home side have lost their last two Serie A matches and are just two points clear of the relegation zone with three games to go.

Torino still have a chance of Europa League football next season after winning four of their last five Serie A games.

Bologna travel to Genoa hoping to climb out of the relegation places.

Genoa got a point against Atalanta last time out after losing their previous four Serie A matches.

Bologna remain in 18th place after being easily beaten by Fiorentina in round 35.

An out of form Parma side play host to Sampdoria at the Tardini.

The home side have earned just one point in their last three Serie A games which has seen their chances of European football take a significant dent.

Il Doria managed their first win in five Serie a matches in round 35, with a late victory over Chievo.

Udinese entertain Livorno with the away side close to a return to Serie B.

Livorno are three points from safety with three games to go after defeat against Lazio in round 35.

Udinese are safely in mid table but did fail to win a game in April.

The late game on Sunday is one of the biggest games in world football, as AC Milan take on Inter in the 212nd Derby della Madonnina.

Milan go into the game looking to bounce back from their 2-0 to Roma last Friday night.

After their 0-0 stalemate against Napoli in round 35, Inter have drawn the most games in Serie A this season with a remarkable 15 draws from their 35 games.

In the reverse fixture earlier in the season, a Rodrigo Palacio goal gave Inter the bragging right in a 1-0 victory.

There are two games on Monday, the first of which sees Lazio entertain Verona.

The home side maintained their slim hopes of Europa League qualification with an easy win over Livorno last time out.

Verona are on the same points as their opponent on Monday, 52, after their impressive 4-0 home win over Cagliari in round 35.

A win for Juventus over Atalanta will see the Antonio Conte’s side claim a record breaking third consecutive scudetto.

The Bianconeri suffered heartbreak in midweek losing on aggregate to Benfica in the Europa League semi-final and denying the Turin based side of a potential final at the Juventus stadium.

Juve have though won their last four Serie A games.

Atalanta ended a run of three consecutive Serie A defeats with a draw against Genoa in round 35.

The two Coppa Italia finalists are in action on Tuesday night, rounding off round 36.

First Fiorentina host relegation threaten Sassuolo.

La Viola have to win to keep any slim hopes of finishing third above Napoli alive.

Sassuolo are still just above the drop zone despite being beaten by Juventus in round 35.

Napoli entertain Cagliari in the late game on Tuesday.

The home side know that a win will secure Champions League qualification for the 2014/15 season.

Cagliari ended any lingering doubt about their Serie A future with home victory over Parma in round 35.
