Giovanni Trapattoni is expected to be named as new coach of Morocco on Friday after holding discussions with the Atlas Lions to finalise details on a four year contract.

The 75-year-old has been out of work since leaving his post as coach of Republic of Ireland last September and is looking to return to football with the host nation of the 2015 African Cup of Nations.

According to Sportmediaset.it, the former Juventus, Inter and AC Milan tactician will be unveiled at a press conference on Friday and the length of his contract covers two African Cup of Nations campaigns and qualification for the 2018 World Cup.

Morocco are 76th in the FIFA world rankings and parted company with coach Rachid Taoussi last year.

Current Serie A players Mehdi Benatia (Roma), Adel Taraabt (AC Milan) and Omar El Kaddouri (Torino) will be among those trying to impress Trapattoni.
