Though AC Milan have finalised a deal for Andrea Poli, the Rossoneri may still be in the market for an attacking midfielder with this month’s injury to Riccardo Montolivo.

The Rossoneri have reignited their interest in current Genoa player Andrea Bertolacci who is also co-owned by Roma. Bertolacci has spent the last two years with the Grifone and in his most recent season, the midfielder tallied two goals in 25 games while adding an assist.

According to Primocanale.it, Milan are looking for a suitable replacement as Montolivo will be out for an extended period with a broken Tibia. The injury occurred in a World Cup 2014 warm-up with Ireland in which the two teams play to a scoreless draw.

Though Milan are interested in Bertolacci, the Rome-born player is thought to have a chance at a return to the Giallorossi. Earlier this spring Bertolacci expressed his excitement at a possible return to Roma speaking to Corriere dello Sport.

“I’m from Spinaceto, my house was 10 minutes from Trigoria. I grew up wearing that shirt. I think for a Roman and a Romanista like me, it’s a great thing to play for your own team”, he explained.

“I’ve always said that I have to thank Genoa for how they appreciate me, but of course if Roma were to call me back, if I were to be part of their plans and if I could be considered to be important, then that would be the best.”
