Inter midfielder Gaby Mudingayi could return to Lazio this summer if Stefano Pioli becomes the new boss of the capital city club.

The 32-year-old, who had a stint with the Biancocelesti from 2005-08, is expected to depart from the Nerazzurri once his contract expires on June 30 and could make his way back to the Aquilotti if Pioli is named as Edy Reja’s successor.

According to Tuttomercatoweb, the arrival of the former Bologna tactician at Lazio would almost definitely secure the Belgian international’s transfer to the team, as the duo previously worked together for two seasons at the Felsinei.

Stefano Pioli lost his job as Rossoblu boss back in January after leading the club for almost three years and has been out of work ever since.

Mudingayi has been with Inter since joining from Bologna in 2012 and made just one Serie A appearance for the Milan side during the 2013-14 campaign.

The midfielder may also have a chance to join Sampdoria this summer as he is thought to be a target of Blucerchiati coach Sinisa Mihajlovic.
