Italy’s final training session was held under water, as the heavens opened in Natal prior to their crucial Group D match against Uruguay.

The weather is expected to be just as bad for the game tomorrow amidst talk of a possible abandonment, though these claims have now been hotly refuted.

From the session only Daniele De Rossi was missing, as the Roma midfielder nurses a pull to his calf and is not expected to be fit for the tie.  There were also minor concerns with keeper Salvatore Sirigu who immediately stopped after feeling a twinge, though it is not thought to be anything serious.

Most notable was the Mario Balotelli/Ciro Immobile partnership used during the practice match at the end, in what is expected to be the strike partnership to be fielded tomorrow against La Celeste.

The coach has also hinted that the formation will revert to a 3-5-2, last used in 2013 during the semi final against Spain in the Confederations Cup which ended 0-0.

The Italians eventually succumbed to the Spaniards on a penalty shootout.
