Manchester United are reportedly preparing an offer of around €30 million for Roma midfielder Kevin Strootman in hopes of signing him this summer.

The 24-year-old, who is currently nursing a knee injury he suffered back in March and isn’t expected to return to the pitch until the fall, had been heavily linked with a move to the Red Devils throughout the 2013-14 campaign and it seems a transfer could now be closer than ever with Netherlands national team boss Louis van Gaal taking over as coach of the Premier League side next season.

According to The Independent, Van Gaal is making the Dutch international one of his primary targets of the summer transfer window and is having United prepare a deal worth €30 million for the Giallorossi midfielder.

Strootman joined Roma from PSV Eindhoven for a fee of around €17 million plus a potential €2 million in bonuses last summer and provided five goals and six assists in his 25 Serie A appearances for the Lupi last term.
