Manchester United are reportedly considering a move for AC Milan midfielder Nigel De Jong after the World Cup.

The 29-year-old, who is currently representing the Netherlands at the tournament in Brazil, has been linked with a transfer to the Red Devils this summer now that Dutch national team boss Louis van Gaal will be taking over as head coach of the English side once the competition comes to an end.

According to Sunday People, Van Gaal is interested in bringing several Oranje players to Manchester United before the start of the 2014-15 campaign and the Rossoneri man is thought to be one of his main targets.

Reports also suggest that the Netherlands coach is still keen on bringing Roma midfielder Kevin Strootman to United as well despite his ongoing recovery from a knee injury he suffered back in March.

Nigel De Jong, who arrived at AC Milan from Manchester City in 2012, scored two goals and provided three assists in his 33 Serie A appearances for the Diavolo last term.
