Riccardo Montolivo - ItalyDespite being unable to play a direct part in Italy’s World Cup challenge this summer Riccardo Montolivo believes that the Azzurri will still reach the last four of the competition.

The injured AC Milan midfielder puts only a trio of sides above the quality Cesare Prandelli has at his disposal but warned that their opener against England could be crucial.

“I believe we will reach the semi-finals,” Montolivo told Gazzetta dello Sport.

“Only Brazil, Spain and Germany are superior.

“England will be the most difficult match, possibly the defining moment of the World Cup.”

With the recent appointment of Filippo Inzaghi as Milan coach the Rossoneri captain admitted he cannot wait to work with the former Azzurri striker, while indicating that all was not well under Clarence Seedorf.

“I feel full of enthusiasm,” the midfielder stated. “He has a desire to do well.

“Under Seedorf there was a lack of harmony within the club.”
