Uruguay national team striker Luis Suarez has claimed that he dreamt of scoring two goals ahead of his country’s World Cup victory over England on Thursday.

The 27-year-old, who was on the bench recovering from a knee injury during the Celeste’s 3-1 loss to Costa Rica on June 14, was happy to help Uruguay make up for their previous defeat by scoring both goals in their 2-1 win over the Three Lions and admits that he’s now focused on his country’s final group stage match against Italy on June 24.

Suarez spoke to Univision about his brace against England and commented on all of the support he has received from his family following his recent knee injury.

“This is incredible. I had told my team-mates that I had a dream that I was going to score two goals in this match,” said the Liverpool man.

“We had to win this match and we did it playing like Uruguay does in these kind of games. Now we have to think about Italy, another very important rival.

“This victory is for all those people who said so many bad things about the team, it’s for them.

“People laughed about my injury, I had a very difficult moment. I thank my wife and children for enduring me.”
