West Ham are on the verge of completing a deal to sign Spanish defender Marcos Alonso from Fiorentina.
Alonso impressed on loan in the Premier League with Sunderland last season, his assured displays at left-back helping the Black Cats to secure their top flight survival.
The Hammers were among the clubs impressed by the 23-year-old and according to the Daily Mirror, they are now close to securing his services for a fee of €1.9 million.
Talks between the parties are at a very advanced stage and are expected to be finalised soon.
Alonso is a Real Madrid youth team product but failed to make the breakthrough at the Bernabeu, enjoying a spell with Bolton Wanderers before his move to Tuscany in 2013.
