Argentina midfielder Lucas Biglia said that the side paid for their mistakes in their World Cup final defeat to Germany.

La Albiceleste were defeated 1-0 at the Estadio Maracana courtesy of a Mario Gotze goal in the second half of extra time.

Speaking to Rai Sport after the game, the Lazio midfielder said that his side paid for their mistakes and their failure to convert chances.

“There is a lot of sadness,” he said. “We tried everything, but in the end we paid for our few mistakes.

“We could have got to penalties as well as having two or three chances to win the game – but we did not take them.

“We deserved a bit more, the disappointment is huge.”

It is worth mentioning that Biglia appeared in all of his side’s 2014 World Cup games, starting three games in the process.
