Arsenal are interested in signing Catania fullback Gino Peruzzi before the transfer window ends.

The Gunners have turned to the Argentinian international in an attempt to bolster the defence for the upcoming season and provide competition for new signing Mathieu Debuchy.

According to itasportpress.it, Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is a keen admirer of Peruzzi and is trying to convince the club to purchase the Argentinian.

Catania are demanding at least 10 million if they are to be convinced to part ways with the highly rated defender, but Arsenal are trying to drive down the price.

The Catania star only arrived in Serie A from Velez Sarsfield in his native Argentina last season, but has made quite the impression for the relegated side last season.
