Atalanta have confirmed the signing of Giuseppe Biava after he was released by Lazio.
The veteran defender was increasingly linked with a move to his hometown club and La Dea have now announced his arrival, although specifics to the deal were not disclosed.
“The club announces that it has reached an agreement with Giuseppe Biava who will wear the jersey of Atalanta,” a short statement on the official club website reads.
Ahead of joining Atalanta, Biava had explained that his decision to turn down the chance to stay with Lazio was based entirely on personal reasons.
“Leaving Lazio was all down to the family, the distance [between us] was starting to get to me,” the 37-year-old told Radio Sei.
“In Rome it was also the end of a cycle, I’d already given my all there.
“The president tried to convince me to stay and sign a new contract.
“It was very sad because I could have stayed to teach the youngsters and help them learn.”
