New Lazio signing Dusan Basta believes that joining the Aquilotti has been the right decision as he looks to begin a new experience in Rome.
The 29-year-old defender recently arrived at the Biancocelesti from Udinese and he admits he’s happy to represent the capital city club and is looking forward to proving his quality on the pitch.
Basta spoke during his Lazio presentation about his first impressions of the club and commented on the excitement surrounding the Derby della Capitale against Roma.
“I’m looking to start a new cycle, one I hope is good for me and the team,” said the Serbian international.
“I know where I have come, in a much larger city, with more fans than Udinese. I’m happy and I’m convinced that I’ve made the right choice by coming here.
“The derby? I think it’s one of the most beautiful things in football. I heard that around here we all start to talk about the game a whole two months before it even happens.
“It’s a match that’s not very easy to play in, but it will be very nice to play in anyway.
“My first impressions? I realised that this is a great team with a great squad. It’s normal to always want to play, that’s what I came here for.
“I respect the competition I have here, there’s no calm in holding a starting spot in the squad. I must demonstrate my worth on the pitch.”
