Bayern Munich sporting director Matthias Sammer has denied rumours linking the German side with a bid for Fiorentina winger Juan Cuadrado.

The 26-year-old has been heavily linked with a move away from the Viola this summer after his impressive showing for Colombia at the World Cup and some reports have claimed that the Bavarians were ready to submit an offer worth around 42 million for his services ahead of the 2014-15 campaign.

Sammer spoke to Germany’s Sport 1 about the rumours regarding Bayern Munich’s pursuit of Cuadrado and confirmed that there is no truth to them.

“The rumours concerning our supposed interest in the Fiorentina winger Cuadrado are completely absurd,” said the sporting director.

The Colombia international, who scored 11 goals and provided eight assists in his 32 Serie A appearances for the Gigilati last term, has also been on the radar of other European giants including Barcelona, Arsenal, Manchester United and Liverpool since the opening of the summer transfer window.
