Napoli boss Rafa Benitez has reportedly asked midfielder Valon Behrami to stay with the San Paolo outfit for the 2014-15 campaign.
The 29-year-old has been linked with a possible move to a number of clubs in recent weeks including Inter, Tottenham Hotspur, Atletico Madrid and Hamburg, but it seems he may be set for another season with the Partenopei.
According to the Naples edition of the Corriere del Mezzogiorno, Benitez had spoken with the Swiss international during Napoli’s training camp to express his confidence in him and asked him to remain with the Italian side for the upcoming season.
Behrami, who joined the Azzurri from Fiorentina in 2012, has made a total of 54 Serie A appearances for Napoli thus far with 21 appearances coming last term.
The defensive midfielder also represented Switzerland at this summer’s World Cup in Brazil and appeared in all four of his country’s matches until their round of 16 elimination by Argentina.
