Roma striker Marco Borriello believes that the Lupi are among the top contenders to win the Scudetto during the 2014-15 season.
The 32-year-old, who recently returned to the Giallorossi after spending the second half of the 2013-14 campaign on loan with West Ham United, is confident in the capital city club’s chances of winning a Serie A title next season, though he insists that Juventus are still the favourites.
Borriello spoke to Roma Channel after the Italian side’s 1-0 win over Liverpool in Boston on Wednesday about the Lupi’s mission to fight for the Scudetto next term and admitted that the team’s newest members will make a positive difference in the squad’s performances.
“Roma are the favourites for the Scudetto? No, Juventus are still the favourites,” said the former Genoa man.
“However, Roma have definitely proven that they have what it takes to stay on the tail of the leaders.
“There are new additions to the squad that can make a difference, next season we will be up there among the top contenders to win the title.”
